Sunday October 26th 2025 I ran the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon in Kenya. Find below my full race coverage from this marathon and some tourist impressions from Nairobi.
Nairobi and the Karen Blixen Museum
I was pleased to visit the Karen Blixen Museum in Karen, Nairobi, as part of my stay. Obviously, being a Dane this was “mandatory” as the world-famous author Karen Blixen was a Dane too, her danish house is actually only 20 km off my own one. Other tourist stuff included visits to the Nairobo Giraffe Centre and the Kazumi Bead Factory, where I bought several nice pieces of jewlery. Also, staying at the Villa Rosa Kempinsky Hotel was a great experience this weekend.
Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2025
The event carried mutiple distances, marathon, halfmarathon, 5K and 10K. The event was very well organized with well equipped water station, maintained (!) toilets and a high level of security along the entire route. There were some height meters to battle and running at almost 2000 meters above sea level was quite challenging. Personally, I had the great honor to spend time with the winner of the Copenhagen Maraton 2018, Mr. William Morwarbe of Kenya, whom came to run with me for a few kilometers, thus creating a fond memory for a lifetime!
