Saturday November 1th 2025 I ran the Åland Marathon in Mariehamn in the Aaland Islands (Åland). Find below my full race coverage from this marathon and a few tourist impressions from Mariehamn.
Mariehamn
Frankly, there was not much to see or tell from Mariehamn, everything was closed on Sunday after the race, so only a few impressions from a wee walk-about. In summer time, a visit on the Pommern Ship would have been the main attraction, I think. But the extremely quiet Mariehamn was a very nice contrast to the traffic kaos in Nairobi one week earlier.

Åland Marathon 2025
The event carried a 5K, 10K, half marathon and a full marathon, all on the same, very flat route. Nice organisation and several running friends present: all in all an enjoyable day and a small event to be recommended for sure.
